One of the most understated tragedies of everyday life is a good book. The underlying flaw is that you can’t win. When you read it in a day because it is so good then it is over before you ever get a chance to savor it. Then when you take your time reading it you can lose some of the full effect from forgetting things or getting distracted and not fully grasping it. When I finish a truly good book, it’s like saying goodbye to a good friend, their never forgotten but sooner or later you have to move on. Still, like a good friend a good book can influence you and change you for the rest of your life.
